RARE breed sheep at Butser Ancient Farm spent the first day of spring grazing in a blizzard.

Farm spokesman Rachel Bingham said: “Today (March 1) is the first day of spring, and the farm is blanketed with snow.

“Luckily our rare breed Manx Loaghtan sheep are also well insulated for the colder weather and our goats are nestled together in a warm shelter. Spring will bring lots of excitement to Butser with the arrival of new born lambs and goat kids expected any day now -- we hope they get a slightly warmer first impression of the world.”
