MODELLERS of many disciplines will gather at the Hollycombe Working Steam Museum this weekend for the museum’s model weekend.
The event has grown rapidly in the few years that it has been held, and there are some 37 miniature traction engines booked in this weekend.
The grand parade and line up of the miniature steamers is planned each afternoon in front of the station building, and eight model railway layouts of various scales will compete for attention. There will also be a large number of working fairground models, circus and fire engine models, plus model lorries, buses and aircraft and a model-knitted village.
The Liphook Modellers Club will have their clubhouse open with a display of some members’ models, while there will be a number of visiting engines running on the museum’s garden railway.
Southern Armour Group will put on displays, with various radio controlled military models touring the site, plus the Portsmouth Model Boat Display team, who will be bringing their Second World War French village model tank battle display, complete with pyrotechnics, with shows planned each afternoon.
Hollycombe trustee Brian Gooding said: “The Hollycombe model weekend gives an opportunity for a great day out. A number of the exhibits are under cover and can be enjoyed whatever the weather.”
