A?PEAL of bells from St Bartholomew’s Church opened this year’s joint Rogate Fete and celebration for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Organiser Anna Lobbenberg said: “The large crowd was serenaded by Liss Band, and Susie Shepherd Smith’s team enhanced their reputation for fantastic teas.”

Vintage cars, games, local produce stalls, a dog show, archery, a marquee from Rogate school, a raffle, book and bric-a-brac stalls entertained and fascinated.

Anna said: “The local farmers also won a fierce tug of war against the footballers.” For the hungry, there was a barbecue beer, Pimms, and sweets and ice creams.

In the village hall were the flower displays, photography, crafts, and the second Rogate Bake Off.

Anna added: “Thanks to all our generous sponsors.”
