HAMPSHIRE Highways have now lifted diversions following the fatal accident at the pelican crossing in Dragon Street in which a woman was killed after being in collision with a lorry.

It happened at about 2pm and College Street, Dragon Street and Petersfield High Street didn't reopen until about 8pm. The accident scene was shut off while police completed their investigations.

Traffic was diverted along Sussex Road, then Heath Road East, and along Pullens Lane. Traffic could then go either down Rams Hill, round the one way system onto Station Road.

The Square was closed with traffic being diverted from Chapel Street into Swan Street. St Peters Road was also closed.
