POLICE and paramedics were called to the scene after a car left the road in Sheet and demolished sign posts before coming to rest.

At about 3pm on Monday, June 6, a black BMW travelling north from Petersfield left the London Road at its junction with Village Street in Sheet, and flattened road signs before stopping just feet from a drop through a hedge into a field.

Petersfield Police and paramedics arrived at the crash site just after 3pm.

Scottish and Southern Electricity engineers were also called out to replace electrical cables leading to lights illuminating the signs, which Hampshire County Council road engineers had replaced.

A police spokesman said: “The female driver suffered a minor injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, and our investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
