A POPULAR art exhibition and sale in Rogate earned more than £2,400, which will be divided between the village church and helping refugees in Syria.

More than 300 art works in a wide variety of mediums, including water colour, oil and acrylic, to bronze-resin, soapstone, textiles and Ipad, were on offer from 57 artists, of which 25 were local to Rogate.

The proceeds of the three day bi-annual sale in St Bartholomew’s Church in Rogate will be shared between the church’s ‘Vision 20/20 Appeal’ and the Chichester Diocesan Syrian Appeal.

Exhibition and sale organising committee chairman Hatty Crichton said: “I was supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, too numerous to mention but to whom many thanks are due.

“They set up the exhibition, monitored the arrival and departure of the artworks, manned the doors, looked after the money and, after three busy days, returned St Bartholomew’s Church to its more usual state of spacious serenity.”
