CATHERINGTON could take the crown for the biggest effort as two events to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday will take place in the village this weekend.
A beacon will be lit in honour of Her Majesty at All Saints Church tomorrow (Saturday) following a 9pm concert with a ‘Last night of the proms’ theme.
But there will be plenty more pomp and circumstance on Sunday as villagers raise a glass to the monarch during the annual Big Lunch event next to the Farmer Inn.
The noon event – billed as the ‘Queen’s Birthday Bonanza’ by the Catherington Village Residents’ Association – will have a red, white and blue theme with prizes awarded for the best crown.
The get-together will also feature live music while further highlights will include a hog roast, treasure hunt, bouncy castle, tug-of-war and more family-friendly events. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for under threes, and are available from cvra@[email protected]
