RUNNERS are limbering up for the Butser Hill Challenge, to be held this Sunday, September 27 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

This is a physically demanding course but it offers spectacular views of the South Downs.

Junior events for four- to 12-year-olds take place from 10am, with the five mile senior race starting at 12.30pm.

The atmosphere is fun and friendly and the run attracts participants of all ages and abilities. Last year’s oldest runner was 73.

There are three steep ascents and descents of the landmark hill in the main race, supported by Churcher’s College in Petersfield.

Other sponsors include Fullers, MacDonald Oates Solicitors and Alton Sports.

The charity being supported this year by the event, which was started up in 1978 by the Post’s chief reporter Glynn Williams, is Home-Start Butser. Visit www.butser.org for how to participate and to download an entry form.
