THE CHIEF inspector due to become responsible for the new police district of East Hampshire says targeting rural crime will be high on her to-do agenda.
As the police suffer government cuts, Hampshire has redefined its police areas and how they are run, so as to operate more efficiently.
For the first time, the East Hampshire District Council area will be a stand-alone police district, overseen by Chief Inspector Beth Pirie.
She is already in post, and in April the district will split into three areas, Butser and the southern parishes, the Petersfield area, and Longmoor with Alton.
