FATHER Christmas is heading for East Hampshire’s most popular attractions as they unwrap their festive events.

Take a ride on a magical steam train ride on the scenic Watercress Line at Alresford, with Santa and his jolly helpers on board.

These Santa Specials run on December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 24, and are a lovely way to celebrate the festive season with all the family.

There is white wine and mince pies for the adults, and soft drinks for the children.

Departing from either Alresford or Alton, the one-hour round trip also features a singalong of festive favourites.

Advance booking is essential. Adult tickets are £18, children aged one to 16 years, £18, and children under a year £10.

On December 24, the cost is £19 for adults and children, and £11 for those under a year.

Over at the Rural Life Centre, at Tilford, there are Santa Special weekends too, with four days of festive excitement the biggest and most popular on the museum’s calendar.

On December 10 and 11, and 17 and 18, visitors can ride on the Old Kiln Light Railway, lend a hand in the gnomes’ workshop, see a selection of animals, and enter the magical Santa’s Grotto, where children will receive a gift.

Seasonal refreshments will be available, and there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy, including a toy workshop and a model railway display.

Tickets are £11.50 for children and £7 for adults.
