Anglo Saxon re-enactment group Herigeas Hundas will be defending the Saxon long hall at Butser Ancient Farm against the marauding Vikings of Wuffa Re-enactment Society this weekend on September 18 and 19.

Visitors will be able to enjoy action packed battles along with ancient crafts and every day camp life as grudges between age old enemies are settled.

The battle combat demonstrations throughout the weekend will see warriors pitted against each other in one on one combat.

There will also be the unique chance to see a fearsome shieldwall and feel what it was like to face down an invading war band!

Can Herigeas Hundas defend their Hampshire home from the bloodthirsty Vikings of Wuffa?

Only the charge of the shieldwall will tell!

From 1pm, Sunday Times best-selling author, Cat Jarman will also be joining the war-bands at the farm and signing copies of her fantastic new book, River Kings.

Butser Ancient Farm’s creative developer, Rachel Bingham said: “We can’t wait to see the past brought to life for our visitors at this special event.

“Money raised during this fun, action packed event will enable the farm to conduct more research, educational activities and development in the year ahead.”
