A CAMPAIGN to encourage residents to report scams has been launched by Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane.

Petersfield residents have been urged to post scam letters and junk mail into a ‘Scamnesty’ box at Citizen’s Advice, which is based inside the library in The Square. The analysed contents will give the police better intelligence about the types of scams targeting residents across Hampshire.

An online ‘Safer Pack’ which contains tips on recognising different types of fraud, and ways to get support if you have been a victim of scammers, can also be downloaded at www.hamp shirepcc.gov.uk/scamnesty

Hampshire Police receives over 700 reports of fraud or attempted fraud each month, with most targeting the elderly or vulnerable residents.
