A troubadour with a “silky, velvety and heavenly” voice will spread some light and love in Petersfield next week.

There’s no hiding the fact Write Angle have pulled off a coup in bringing Tobiah to The Townhouse as the singer-songwriter has worked with some of the biggest names in the business.

Fans can expect an “intimate and special” performance when she brings her Spring Secret Places tour to the High Street venue next Tuesday, March 17.

Tobiah is a natural and “nuanced” singer whose poignant lyrics are full of life-affirming stories of love and endurance.

Her talents have earned a legion of admirers with previous collaborators including David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Cat Stevens. One of her songs also sparked a record label battle between Janet Jackson and Will Smith with the latter calling the artist “a happening up babe”.

She recently played on Gaby Roslin’s BBC London show while previous venues have included ancient churches, medieval halls and historic houses.

Tobiah – whose voice has been described as “ethereal” and “outstanding” by the BBC’s Justine Greene and Doug Welch – will perform songs from her latest Are We Angels album when she performs in The Townhouse.

The nine-song album was recorded in a cottage studio overlooking the South Downs and was mixed by legendary engineer Robin Black.

Tobiah was recently invited by the National Trust at Avebury in Wiltshire to give the first-ever concert in the newly-refurbished chapel in the stone circle and will be returning later this year.

While Tobiah will definitely be the headline act the evening will also include the ever-popular Open Mic session.

Expect poetry, spoken word and songs and a raffle to win a meal for two a Petersfield Thai restaurant, Lemongrass.

The show will begin at 7.30pm with doors opening 15 minutes beforehand. Entry £6.
