OLDER Cub Scouts from Petersfield, Sheet, Liss, Liphook, and East Meon enjoyed a weekend by the sea in Southbourne having a go at new activities, learning about leadership skills and making new friends.

Following the March snow, there was still a sharp wind, but a bracing hike around Chichester Harbour was enjoyed, as was scavenging on the beach in the early Sunday morning sunshine.

Petersfield district Cub Scout leader Melanie Robinson said: “Other activities included making and racing Viking long ships, making fake wounds from modelling clay then learning how to dress them, discovering how to send secret messages using various techniques including writing with lemon juice and making ice cream using a plastic bag, ice and plenty of salt.

“Young people are encouraged to provide input into the scouting programmes and activities delivered to them.”
