A GENEROUS and "super enthusiastic woman" with a hand in several Liss organisations has received one of the village’s top awards.
Triangle Centre stalwart and all-round wonderwoman Ros Humphreys is the winner of this year’s Liss Villager of the Year trophy.
The Liss Forest resident received the accolade last week in recognition of the numerous and varied voluntary roles she undertakes in the village.
Ros is a Friend of the Triangle Centre and one of its hardest-working volunteers. She can often be found helping out at the coffee bar and is a constant presence at film nights and fundraising events at the Mill Road venue.
"She is very much part of the team," said centre manager Karen Feeney, adding: "She is a great asset to us at a lot of events.
"She is super enthusiastic and she always has a smile on her face."
Ros also regularly volunteers for the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) Luncheon Club in the village hall, organises games afternoons and baking events at Rother House, and is part of the team which plants daffodils and bulbs around Liss Forest every year.
And that’s not everything, as the winner regularly helps out at the Liss Forest Fun Day and even has a hand in decorating the Christmas trees in the village centre.
Mrs Humphreys, of Forest Rise, said she was "honoured" to receive the award but also admitted to feeling slightly embarrassed, as she works in a team and not individually.
She said: "I’m just one of many but I felt honoured and quite proud to get the trophy, although I haven’t worked out where I’m going to put it yet.
"I do what a lot of people do and that’s help out in the coffee bar at The Triangle but I’m not in any committee. I do nothing on my own and I’m always part of a team, but nonetheless I’m very honoured to get this award."
Ros was handed the award by Liss Parish Council chairman Roger Hargreaves last Wednesday during the annual parish meeting. Peter Coley, chairman of the Liss Forest Residents’ Association, also agreed the villager is very deserving of the title.
He said: "She is such a lovely person - she is very enthusiastic and loves what she does.
"She does it on a voluntary basis and gets a lot out of it. She also brings a lot of enjoyment to others and she very much deserves this award."
