IN STRIKING contrast to nonsense poet Edward Lear, the next writer whose works will grace The Little Theatre is Peter Shaffer.

Last month, the 40-seat auditorium at Queen Elizabeth Country Park’s Visitor Centre hosted An Owl, A Cat and A Pea-Green Boat, with The Page Turners performing Lear’s work. Now Scene Setters are presenting something quite different in the form of White Liars.

With talented actors from the area, Anne-Lise Kadri, Charlie Essex and Joe Dove, the one-act play is directed by Brenda Adams.

White Liars revolves around Sophie Lemberg, an eccentric and disillusioned fortune teller living in a decaying seaside resort, and the two young men – Tom, the lead singer in a rock band, and Frank, his business manager – who consult her.

It soon becomes clear that their lives are much stranger than the fiction Sophie tries to create in her magic ball.

The performance lasts for about an hour so is being put on twice on the two consecutive Saturday afternoons it is running (November 18 and 25). It is not suitable for children.

Admission is free but booking is essential by calling 023 9259 5040 to reserve seats at the venue.
