WET WEATHER may have delayed their opening parade, but there was a carnival atmosphere at the Sheet Primary School fete all the same.

The well-attended event, organised by Friends of Sheet School on a soggy Saturday afternoon, was themed around the summer Olympics in Brazil.

In the run-up children had been making flags and masks for the colourful parade, and learning about the countries and athletes involved.

“They made as much noise as possible during the parade with all our musical instruments,” said headteacher Julie Robinson, who was taped to a wall by pupils to raise more money.

There were many attractions including sports stalls and a egg throwing game, which is a tradition at the school.

Almost £2,000 was raised which will be put towards computer equipment.
