PETERSFIELD is set to enjoy a retail boost as a newly refurbished shop prepares to re-open and plans are submitted for three new shops, with more proposed.

The former Rhona Russell boutique in the iconic three storey 17th century house on the Sheep Street corner of The Square is set to reopen as GillieG’s, named after its new owner, Gillian Webb.

Gillian was an enthusiastic customer in the shop before the then owner Mrs Russell decided she wanted to spend more time with her family and announced her retirement.

Gillian, who previously worked in retail and sales, said: “It was such a fantastic shop, that I plan to continue selling the same popular high quality labels as before, but slowly adding new designers.“

GillieGs is set to open on March 3, with Petersfield Mayor Jamie Matthews cutting the ribbon at 11am. There will be ten per cent discount on everything sold on the day and customers will be entered in a grand prize draw.

In the meantime plans are with South Downs National Park Authority planners for three more shops on land behind the former Job centre in Chapel Street and alongside the path from the Swan Street car park to Chapel Street.
