RAMS Walk shoppers in Petersfield were all shook up as a surprise Elvis Presley flashmob came to together to sing one of ‘The King’s’ most popular songs.

On November 4, more than 25 members of Petersfield Theatre Group (PTG) were pretending to shop, or chat in small groups, when one stepped forward and began singing ‘Can’t help falling in love with you,’ by Elvis. She was quickly joined by cast members, and, much to shoppers’ delight, they completed an enthusiastic rendition of the song.

Theatre group secretary Chris Hackett organised the performance, aimed at promoting the forthcoming show All Shook Up. He said: “We rehearsed the flashmob for about an hour, and it went really well, and was great fun.”

The show features many Elvis songs in a funny and moving tale of hope, and second chances. In 1950s America, a guitar-playing, hip-swivelling stranger arrives in a small town on his motorbike. Is he ‘The Devil in Disguise’ – the townsfolk are about to be ‘All Shook Up’ and could be headed for ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, but for Natalie, the love-struck, tomboy mechanic, it really is ‘Now or Never’.
