MORE than 100 skate boarders, BMX bikers, and spectators enjoyed a Skate-Jam opening to the newly extended Petersfield Skate Park.
Petersfield Town Council oversaw the £218,000 extension project and a spokesman said: “The day was absolutely amazing.
“The weather was great and there must have been 100-plus there, and it was very busy – so get on board, and come use it.”
On the day there was also live music, skateboard stands, food and a guest appearance by Petersfield mayor, Peter Clist.
The unveiling of the new layout on Love Lane playing fields comes after years of fundraising by the Petersfield charity, the Festival of Young People.
The charity raised £150,000 for phase one of the park, and then last August secured £218,000 for phase two after Aspire Pharma of Rotherbrook Court in Bedford Road stepped in to foot the bill.
The expansion was by Gravity Engineering with ex-professional skateboarder Marc Churchill as the design director.
