NEWMAN Collard Tennis Club member Ben Love will be doing a tandem skydive at the North London Skydiving Centre in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, tomorrow (Friday) to raise funds to refurbish the club’s facilities and clubroom.

Ben will be jumping from a height in excess of 10,000ft and will free-fall to 5,000ft where a small piece of fabric will then be deployed, slowing his fall and allowing to him to relax and enjoy the landscape. The jump was previously scheduled for February 28 but was cancelled following the cold spell and snow that came with the Beast from the East.

Ben said: “We’ve done a lot to lower barriers and get more people playing more tennis. I also volunteer at Crossover Youth Centre where we’re planning to run some more outreach tennis sessions. An improved clubroom would support all these initiatives.”
