THE LIFE of troubled Welsh icon Richard Burton is put under the spotlight in a one-man show at The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre in Bordon.
Starring Rhodri Miles (Game of Thrones, Eastern Promises, Atlantis), who takes on the role of the great actor, Burton vividly presents his extraordinary story, from humble beginnings to Hollywood stardom.
Beautiful women, including Liz Taylor of course, alcohol, wealth, stage and screen are the threads woven into this show which is at once poignant and moving, and exuberant and often hilarious.
It charts his meteoric rise and adulation, but also his out of control drinking, his deteriorating health and mental state, his doomed, tempestuous relationship with Taylor, and his constant guilt over the abandonment of his family.
Burton received critical acclaim at two Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, in 2009 and 2014, and also at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2010 where the play won best international show.
