SOUTH Western Railway has issued an update on train services through East Hampshire following this afternoon’s incident at Petersfield Railway Station.
The rail company are warning services will continue to be cancelled or revised through the district following reports of a person being struck by a Portsmouth-bound train as it arrived in the station at around 1.30pm.
This disruption could last until 6pm this evening although the latest service update from South Western Railway says all lines between Havant and Haslemere have now re-opened.
The service update from South Western Railway added: “We received reports that a person had been struck by a train between Haslemere and Havant, meaning that all lines were blocked as emergency services assisted with the incident.
“All lines have now re-opened and trains are able to call at all stations.
“Due to the length of time that the line was blocked many trains and crew have been displaced. This will cause trains to be delayed, altered or cancelled at short notice.
“To assist you with your journey today your tickets will be accepted on: Southern Railway services via any reasonable route; Great Western Railway (GWR) services between Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton Central and Salisbury; London Underground via any reasonable route between London Terminals; and local Stagecoach bus routes 23, 37 and 700 between Portsmouth and Havant.
“We are very sorry for the disruption that this may cause to your journey.
