HOLLYCOMBE Steam in the Country welcomed hundreds of visitors when members of the Historic Commercial Vehicles Association arrived for their 60th anniversary get-together and rally.

Visitors were able to admire a collection of more than 70 vehicles, including vintage lorries, buses and small vans, as well as displays and merchandise and sales stands.

Organiser Frazer Clayton was happy with the turnout from members and visitors, noting that vehicles had travelled from far afield, including Bristol and the Midlands as well as the south-east.

Frazer said: “We had a great time at Hollycombe, the atmosphere was very laid back and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Hollycombe’s children’s teddy bears’ outing was also staged, with youngsters bringing their own teddy bears to enjoy magic shows staged by children’s entertainer Nick Clark, a special teddy trail and to take pictures with big ted.

Susannah Stredder took her daughter Daisy and Daisy’s friend Scarlet Bainton to the event. Susannah said: “I remember being brought here as a child, and it’s just as magical as I remember.

“The children loved the magic show, the teddy trail and going on all the steam rides, while seeing the vintage vehicles was an added bonus. Hopefully, we can get back later in the season.”
