LOOKING for something to do this weekend? Why not claim your free pair of tickets worth £24 and go along to the South West Homebuilding and Renovating Show in this special offer for Post readers.

With recent figures from the Land Registry revealing that property prices in the South West have increased more than in any other area in the UK, The South West Homebuilding and Renovating Show, sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements, will be introducing several new specialist advisory features at The Bath and West Showground in Somerset on Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20.

This annual exhibition will provide visitors with expert answers to common self-build and renovation queries, tailored advice and inter-active sessions to help bring people’s projects to life.

New to the two-day event will be the Ask the Builder and Ask the Architectural Technologist features, where visitors will be able to attend free 15-minute specialist sessions at the advice centre. Ask the Builder, hosted by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), will be offering reliable and trusted advice on every type of project around the home.

For those interested in technical building services and solutions, The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) will be offering tailored insights from its stand.

Throughout the show, visitors, whether they are beginners, self-builders, remodellers or extenders, will be guided through topics at the daily masterclasses and seminars ranging from extensions, conversions, tricks of the trade and home DIY to self-build finance options, finding a plot of land and obtaining planning permission, interiors, lighting, doors, windows, renewable technologies, heating systems, project insurance, energy efficiency, home insurance, building regulations and more.

Visitors will have the opportunity to obtain one-on-one recommendations for a specific project in mind by stopping at The Advice Centre, a popular feature at the show. This is a not-to-be missed area for visitors who really want to get under the skin of their plans and be provided with a step-to-step guide to prevent mishaps along the way.

Chartered architectural specialists from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) will also be on hand to offer free advice and support in a 15-minute consultation at the Ask an Architect area to ensure that visitors are clued up on structural engineer calculations, internal alterations and creative project designs.

Sally Tagg and her team will be back at The Planning Clinic this year to keep visitors updated on the new planning regulations and laws, advise on bespoke visitor queries and inform people about different routes they can take to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process.

For those requiring insights on timber homes, Potton, a company renowned for building sustainable timber homes, will be in attendance at its Design Lounge, to direct people on how to start their self-build journey to create a beautifully tailored home using this material.

Regular columnists from Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine will run individual 15 minute consultations at the Ask the Experts zone.
