THIS year’s annual church fete at St Mary’s Church in Liss was the best ever, according to organisers.

As well as the usual entertainment, this year’s event also had a fun pet show and a children’s art show.

The Rev Chris Williams said: “This year’s church fete was the best one ever.

“We had record income, and we probably had a record number of people there.

“The weather was the best we have had, which helped, as people could sit on bales of hay in the garden.

“We are very grateful to The Makatinis of Liss Infant School, The Margariffs and Kerin and Simon for providing the music.

“The children’s art show and the pet show were new additions, and they proved to be popular attractions.

“We donated ten per cent of our takings to the Crossover Youth Centre, which was about £150.

“The rest of the money will go to church funds.”
