Guest judges from East Meon Gardening Club and Liss Horticultural Society joined town councillors to judge this year’s bloom competition – with the standard of entries as high as ever.

Council spokesman for the competition Kathryn Ellis-Blandford said: “The judges were very impressed with the standard of the entries this year.

“It made judging very difficult and congratulations to everyone who entered.

“We are now looking forward to next year’s Petersfield In Bloom competition!”

The annual battle of the blooms has been run by Petersfield Town Council for a number of years.

Once the winners have been decided, they are invited to attend an awards evening in October.

This year, the winners’ awards will be presented at the annual prize giving on Thursday, October 6.

Entrants, family members, relatives and members of the public are invited to attend the special presentation evening.

Winners will receive their awards from horticultural expert, celebrity TV gardener and Petersfield in Bloom president Pippa Greenwood.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start in the Rose Room of the Festival Hall of Heath Road.
