A SCHOOL between Petersfield and Steep celebrated with 20th anniversary of World Book Day with a novel twist.
Celebrating the anniversary, children at Bedales pre-prep school Dunannie dressed as their favourite book characters, including characters from Harry Potter and the Gruffalo, while staff put their favourite books on display.
As part of the celebrations there was story telling and book related discussions, and the school is also creating a Dunannie Book List – made up of books recommended by by staff, children and parents.
Head of Dunannie, Jo Webbern said: “World Book Day is a key date in the Dunannie calendar and children always look forward to it, this year saw some very inventive costumes – including a Jane Austen. Whilst we are all very mindful that we live in an increasingly technological age, we can’t ignore the importance of books, the written word and the inspiration they can provide for young minds. We look forward to releasing our ‘Dunannie Book List’ soon.”
