STEEP Primary School’s Summer Fair was a huge success thanks to the Royal wedding, sunshine and its fun dog show.

Organised by Friends of Steep School (FoSS) committee member Jolene Dean, it started at 11.30am and visitors could watch the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on a screen in the school hall.

FoSS treasurer Nicky Gander said: “It was the best fair in the past eight years, raising about £2,700 towards a science shack and ‘muddy’ kitchen for an outdoor learning area in the woods behind the school.

“The hall was packed for the wedding and the dog show attracted visitors who wouldn’t normally come to the fair, and it was all in lovely weather, which brought in more people.”

The fair date was chosen to coincide with the Royal wedding, and all the stall holders entered into the spirit of the day by dressing up for the occasion.
