WITH almost one-third of all GCSE results at A* and two-thirds at A grade or above, Churcher’s College staff and students were in celebratory mood on Thursday.

Headteacher Simon Williams said: "This year group at Churcher’s as a whole comes away from the year with a justifiable huge grin with rich rewards and the satisfaction of a job well done indeed.

"And it isn’t just within the exam halls which have Churcher’s students on the honours boards - Grade 8 music and drama exam awards, a prodigious number of silver Duke of Edinburgh awards, national representation in sport, all-conquering, five-week expedition teams to Ecuador and Galapagos to name but a few of the accomplishments.

"All this suggests it is very much an Olympic citius, altius, fortius - faster, higher, stronger - for Churcher’s College whether inside the classroom or outside."

There were many individual success stories and overall 98.2% of pupils achieved grades A* to C with 30.7% gaining the top grade of A*.
