BEDALES School at Steep has won a prestigious award for its art and design building.
Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the building is one of only four nationwide to have earned the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) National Award.
It will now be put forward for the shortlist of RIBA’s Stirling Prize for the UK’s best building of the year.
The jury panel praised the art and design block for delivering something of value in a smaller building, with a constrained budget. They added that the project included meaningful student involvement throughout the process, from the selection of the architect, through to use of spaces and detail.
RIBA president Jane Duncan said: “I am delighted to see such confident, innovative and ambitious architecture delivered in such challenging times.”
