Motorists were experiencing delays on the northbound carriageway of the A3 this morning near Petersfield.
Police closed one lane northbound at Butser Hill around 10.45am after a car broke down in the nearside lane.
Officers were in attendance while they waited for a recovery vehicle to arrive to clear the car from the carriageway.
The lane closure was causing traffic to back up towards the Clanfield junction and it brought delays of around ten minutes to motorists.
