AN OPEN day to celebrate the start of the new season is sure to make a splash at Petersfield’s Open Air Swimming Pool.

On Saturday, April 16, from 9am, this will feature popular cold water swimming sessions for brave visitors.

There is also the chance to find out what’s going on there through the summer, to book swimming lessons and sessions and meet new manager Deborah.

A team of dedicated volunteers has been sprucing up the pool for its opening on April 23, and it has been undergoing essential maintenance work including the installation of new boilers. These will be more efficient with savings made meaning a more affordable pool experience.

The pool is a charity and all its income is from ticket sales and donations. To find out how to support the pool visit www.petersfieldpool.org or visit its Facebook page. Donate via the MyDonate page and e-mail [email protected] to find out more.

The pool is open seven days a week until mid-September. It is 25m long and 3m deep at the deep end with a springboard.

There is a toddlers’ pool, a large terrace with picnic benches, hot and cold showers, and sun loungers to hire. Hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams are available.

The pool was set up in 1961 for the benefit of the people of Petersfield, and is run by a committee of 11 trustees.
