WHAT could be more bracing than a Boxing Day swim to work off the Christmas pud?

Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool will be opening on December 26, from 9am to noon, for those brave enough to take a cold water dip.

The temperature will be an exhilarating 14 degrees centigrade, and there will be warming refreshments, including hot mince pies, gingerbread, mulled wine, hot chocolate and tea and coffee, available to buy.

The cost is £5 for a swim and £1 to spectate. The swimmer with the silliest hat or outfit receives a free swim.

The cold water sessions which have been running at the pool on weekend mornings since the season finished have proved very popular. They will resume again in early March.
