ARTHUR Miller’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece Death of a Salesman comes to Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, from July 4 to 8.

This major touring revival of the iconic play, widely considered to be one of the greatest plays of the 20th century, stars Oliver Award nominee Nicholas Woodeson in the central role of Willy Loman.

Willy is not as young as he once was, and boy is he feeling it. After half a lifetime on the sale, this once successful salesman is unable to keep up in a changing workplace.

He’s on the brink of unemployment and he and his wife have bills to pay.

When his drop out son Biff moves home again, Willy decides to give success one more shot.

Can he prove to everyone he still has what it takes?

Death of a Salesman is about the cost of not being able to let go of the American Dream, and is a tragic exploration of the consequences of having blind faith in the capitalist system and trying to keep up with the neighbours.

These are themes which remain as relevant today as in 1940s Brooklyn.

Nicholas worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company for many years, and his recent stage credits include The Audience in London’s West End.
