VOTERS in Denmead, Hambledon and the Winchester district have voted overwhelmingly to Remain in the European Union.

Some 42,878 voted for Britain to Remain while 29,886 sided with Leave, with the results being called just before 4.30am in Winchester Guildhall.

The turnout was 81.26 per cent while 37 ballot papers were rejected.
