TENTS and gazebos blew down in the blustery weather but the show very much went on in Buriton.
Visitor numbers were a little down because of the wet and windy conditions, but the 350 or so villagers who turned out for the annual community event on Saturday had a fantastic time.
Entries for the horticultural, cookery, arts and crafts classes were up, with 500 entries, and a fine display of impressive produce.
Ferret racing was a popular new attraction, organised by STA Rescue, as seen on TV’s The One Show, and Dave Harvey, of Liss, who has featured on Dragon’s Den, brought his own design games to entertain the crowds.
There was also Alice in Wonderland-themed fancy dress, one lap of the field races and the ever popular egg-tossing finale. “That gets very messy but it is great fun,” said committee chairman Stephen Atkins.
