WARM weather on election day wasn't a problem for Clanfield voters who could grab a pint after making their mark in the Red Lounge restaurant - a polling station for the first time.
Voter Sandra Lucas said: "I think the Clanfield winner will be the owner of Red Lounge. I imagine the takings will be quite high this evening."
The woman behind the bar added: "Everyone who's come along to vote has thought 'you know what, I'll have a drink.' It's different, isn't it?"
But outside, Conservative Guy Shepherd, who retained his East Hampshire District Council seat in the election gaining 967 votes, and who was acting as a teller on election day evening, watching voters pour inside was making him thirsty....
