BONFIRES and firework displays will see this coming weekend go with a bang in Petersfield and the surrounding villages.

In Petersfield, the Round Table bonfire and firework display on Bell Hill Recreation Ground starts at 5.30pm tomorrow (Saturday).

The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and fireworks will begin at 7pm. Adult tickets are £8 in advance, £12 on the night, under-fives go free, but for children aged five to 15 tickets are £4 in advance or £5 on the gate.

Family tickets are £16 in advance and £20 on the night. Last year the event raised more than £13,000 for charities and good causes.

Tonight (Friday), Buriton bonfire and fireworks will get under way at 6pm.

There will be a torch-lit procession to the bonfire, which will be set alight around 6.45pm, and the fireworks start at 7.30pm.

There will also be a fair, and the Happy Hula Hoops display team will put on a show with their neon hoops.

Tickets cost £5, children under-two go free, and a family ticket is £12.

Steep, too, is lighting a bonfire on Sunday at 6.45pm and from 7.15pm a firework display on the village common in Church Road will be set off. There will also be hot food, live music and family fun. Entry is £4 per person, or £12 for a family.

Froxfield is having a bonfire and fireworks on the green behind the village hall, starting at 6.15pm, on Sunday, with the fireworks at around 6.30pm.

There will be hot dogs and mulled wine and entry is free, although collecting buckets will be available for donations.

Nyewood is hosting a more sedate affair in the gardens of the Henry Warren Hall, tonight (Friday) from 6.30pm.

For £3.50 a head, residents will get food and one free drink, but they can also enjoy a barbecue, sparklers, wine, beer and sitting chatting around the fire pits.

Families are advised to wrap up warm and bring a chair each.
