KEEN street dancers are being invited to join a new class in Petersfield.

The classes are for adults and they run once a week in the dance studio at The Petersfield School.

So far, the ages of those taking part have ranged from 16 up to 50.

The classes are run by dancer Emma Twist.

She said: “I decided to start the classes as since I moved to the area two years ago I haven’t been able to find a good level of street dance classes without having to travel.

“I was always at least 15 years older than the rest of the students and even though I don’t mind being the oldest. I think a lot of adults might find it a bit intimidating dancing with confident younger dancers.

“I have been choreographing since I was a teenager and worked as a professional dancer in my 20’s.

“Now, as a mum of two young boys I need my dancing even more than before as a break from being a mother and to do something that I love.

“I have had a great response so far with a bunch of lovely ladies and one man.

“Age really shouldn’t matter when you dance but I think it’s nice to have a group for adults who can connect and enjoy the energy.

“My classes are challenging, rewarding but most of all lots of fun and it will bring out the dancer that might have always been there or who is now ready to take centre stage.”

The classes run every Thursday at 7.30pm at The Petersfield School, which is off Cranford Road.

The aim of the classes is to learn new moves, have fun and they will also help to boost fitness.
