DUE TO wind and rain, a free tour of an Iron Age Fort and Bronze Age cemetery on Old Winchester Hill organised by Petersfield Museum had been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 11.

The tour of the hill overlooking the Meon Valley was due to go ahead on Wednesday, April 7, but it was postponed due to the bad weather, says the museum.

Arrangements for new date remain the same, walkers are asked to meet tour leader Dr Stuart Needham, joint co-ordinator of the People of the Heath project on Petersfield Heath, in the main car park at 10.15am.

A museum spokesman said: “Space in the car park is fairly limited so, if possible, share cars with others coming. There are also a few places not far away on the road side, but please don’t occupy passing places.

“The route of the walk is on level ground, but there is the option of a roller-coaster return for those feeling more energetic, and stout footwear is advisable.

“The walk is free, but it is necessary to book a place. Numbers may have to be limited.”
