PETERSFIELD Royal British Legion members and town councillors turned out to commemorate Victory over Japan Day, the day that marked the end of the Second World.
Wreaths were laid at the War Memorial in Petersfield High Street by town mayor Lesley Farrow and British Legion members.
British Legion member David Lloyd said: “Petersfield vicar the Reverend Will Hughes led the prayers, and The Kohima Address and Exhortation were read, and followed by two minutes’ silence.”
VJ Day was first celebrated on August 15, 1945.
