Petersfield mayor and mayoress chose this year’s Christmas cards from among those designed by students at The Petersfield School.
Mayor Peter Clist (pictured right), who picked the winning card with the mayoress, his wife Linda, said: “I was so impressed by the high standard of art from the Year 9 pupils who entered the competition.
“It wasn’t easy to choose a final two, and a third entry came so close that we decided on a winner, runner-up and highly commended, without knowing anything about the artists.”
This year’s winning design depicted two children building a snowman in The Square, and was created by recently-arrived Ukrainian student Anna Lukesh (third from left).
Runner-up was Ruby Issitt, whose design included a Rudolf reindeer standing on William III’s plinth and St Peter’s spire covered with a Santa hat.
The highly-commended design was by Vega Coleman (fifth from left) who painted geese in silhouette flying across a wintry moon.
As well as meeting the artists – each will get a printed copy of their design – Cllr and Mrs Clist (left) met TPS head Mark Marande (fourth from left), and visual arts head Gary Leeson (second from left).
Almost 100 of the winning designs will be winging their way to everyone on the mayor’s official Christmas list.
