TRAIN services to and from London Waterloo are starting to return to normal following the derailment of a train at the station.

The incident happened shortly before Tuesday morning’s rush hour and passengers were being advised yesterday (Tuesday) and today not to travel to the station in the capital.

However, a statement from Network Rail confirms the train was removed successfully yesterday and repair works were carried out overnight. This has meant most of the delays and cancellations passengers were facing have now disappeared.

The Network Rail statement said: "The derailed train at London Waterloo has now been removed and repairs to the track were completed overnight, following yesterday’s partial derailment.

"Two of the three platforms have now re-opened and we are expecting to operate virtually all of the planned services today.

“However, passengers are advised that there may still be delays whilst we work to re-open the third platform."
