MEON Springs Country Experience Show is back with its twin aims of giving people the chance of trying country sports and enjoying a day outdoors.

Meon Springs, at Whitewool Farm between East Meon and West Meon, is known for its fly fishing opportunities and even children as young as four can have a go at catching a trout to take home.

For more experienced anglers at the annual event, casting tutorials will be run by members of the Game Angling Instructors’ Association to help them improve their skills.

Demonstrations will be given by the Fish Wives, an all-female group set up to encourage more women to take up fly fishing.

A fly fishing masterclass will be given by writer, artist and angling ambassador Charles Jardine during this Saturday’s events.

Jamie Butler, who runs Meon Springs, said: “If you’re an angler or you’re thinking of taking up fly fishing then this show is for you.

“If you want to have a go at clay shooting or archery then come along – it’s all about having a go at country pursuits.”

Hendy Group, which is sponsoring the show on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm, will be offering the chance to test-drive 4x4s off road.

Other attractions include tractor rides, working dog demonstrations, falconry, bushcrafts, ferret racing and milking cows.

More than 100 stalls will be set up, including many food and drink producers.
