THE highly popular The Great Pottery Throw Down on the BBC, which saw Petersfield Pottery Sally-Jo Forrest make it to the final, has helped to spark interest in the art.
The programme is back in the New Year, and one of the contestants, whose name is still under wraps, is judging the Ceramics Exhibition by the Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society (PACS) in the Physic Garden Room, off Petersfield High Street.
This annual exhibition, which features the varied work of twenty PACS potters, is always a must-see, and attracts around 1,000 people.
It runs from Saturday, November 19, when visitors will be treated to mulled wine and mince pies, for the festive opening, until Sunday, November 27.
“Our group is thriving, and all across the country classes are full since the Throw Down,” enthused Christine Bull of PACS. “We are always amazed at the support for the exhibition. It is fantastically successful for a small town.”
Work on show will include functionware, ornamental pieces, Christmas items, and examples of Raku and other ceramic techniques.
Opening hours are 11am to 4pm on the opening day, then 10am to 4pm daily. Entry is free.
