A TEENAGE girl was assaulted and a man was punched in the face during a ’public disorder incident’ near Petersfield Town Football Club at the weekend, according to the police.

Police were called to Love Lane around 4.10pm on Saturday amid reports of a melee involving a group of teenagers.

It was reported during the incident that a man in his 30s was punched in the face and that a 17-year-old girl was also assaulted.

Both victims needed medical attention with an ambulance being called.

Police have confirmed that a 16-year-old boy from Petersfield and another boy of the same age from Bosham, near Chichester, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

The pair have been released from custody but remain under investigation with enquiries ongoing.
