THE NEXT step for the community centre project is to gather as many opinions and ideas as possible from residents and organisations in the town.
The Festival for Young People took a stand at the Spring Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend and that is when the drawings and graphics produced by Petersfield architects Re-Format went on show to the public for the first time.
Nigel Wells said:?“We had a fairly positive feedback from the people who looked at the designs and ideas during that event.
“Some had concerns in terms of it being close to where they lived for example, but once the idea was explained to them most people were very supportive.
“What we need now is for people and groups to get in touch with us and help us to shape what this new centre will look like and what will be in it.”
As well as the centre plans, the group working on the project have also highlighted the need to ensure essential services such as power, water and sewerage are linked to the site properly, and for access on and off Love Lane to be improved.
There is also provision for the King’s Arms youth group to be included in the plans if they decide to make Love Lane their home.
The internal design will be flexible and capable of providing a permanent home to organisations who want to be a part of the building.
The project team will be holding a series of open meetings so that people can view the designs and make comments and suggestions.
The first one will be held at Petersfield Town Football Club in Love Lane on Friday, July 8, from 7pm.
