A FIRST-CLASS makeover has been delivered to Petersfield’s?old parcel office at the railway station.
A dusty storeroom for the last ten years, the office has been given a new lease of life as a bright mini visitor centre, welcoming visitors to the town and the South Downs.
The work was carried out by employees from Havant pharmaceutical firm Pfizer as part of Community First’s volunteering scheme.
They cleared out and painted the disused parcel office, and planted flowers in giant pots outside the station.
Mark Miller, of the Community Rail Partnership, the group behind the initiative, said the tourism hub would be ready to open next month.
A member of staff and volunteers would be there to advise visitors.
“Through this, we are encouraging more visitors to travel here by rail, bus, bike and on foot to discover the many attractions in the area.”
Clare Hedgecock, from Pfizer, said:?“It has been fun being involved in this makeover and seeing this unique building being put back into use for the community and visitors of the South Downs National Park.”
Petersfield’s Tesco store donated the flowers, paint brushes and rollers used in the refurbishment.
