PEOPLE can walk in the footsteps of Selborne naturalist Gilbert White thanks to a fascinating audio tour launched by the South Downs National Park.

White transformed how people looked at nature and influenced Charles Darwin and David Attenborough. His book The Natural History of Selborne has remained in print since it was published in 1789.

The White tour app can be downloaded free on to an Android or Apple phone by searching for ‘In Their Footsteps’. It covers a 3.5-mile loop through the countryside he walked around his home, The Wakes, and includes audio clips, photos, archive images and written content.
